Water makes up the majority of the earth that we live on. Water is needed for people to sustain life. AAA Water Team loves water and everything that has to do with it. We have prepared the following fun and interesting facts about water for you to enjoy:
How Much Water Should you Drink a Day?
Did you know that about 70% of a person’s body is made up of water? That is a lot of water! There is not an exact formula on how much water an individual needs. There are many aspects of life that are needed to determine what you might need such as health, age and how active you are. The average amount is different for males and females. Males need roughly 13 cups of water a day where a female needs about 9 cups.
Too Much or Too Little Water
Like everything in life, there is a balance! Did you know that you can be intoxicated by water? It’s true, if you drink too much water too fast it can actually lead to water intoxication, which is where the water dilutes the sodium in the blood which can then cause an imbalance in the brain. Did you know what happens when you feel thirsty? When your body feels thirsty it means you have already lost about 1% of the water in your body and you are starting to feel the effects of dehydration. This means that you probably needed to get a drink sooner than your body can tell you.
Did you know water can dissolve more products than any other liquid? If you add anything from salt to sugar the water can dissolve the solid. A few things that will not mix with water is oil and fats. Water and oil have different densities so matter how hard you shake or stir them they will not stay mixed together.
Water Cools as it Expands
Did you know that when water cools it expands? Have you ever put a bottle of water in the freezer and when you take it out the bottle is bulging out. That is because as water cools down and freezes the molecules stop moving around and expand, that is why during the cold winter months pipes have been known to burst.
Pure Water is Tasteless and Odorless
Did you know that the pure water that AAA Water Team provides has no smell and no taste at all? This means that all those people that have their favorite bottled water means they like the taste of whatever process is being used on that particular brand of water. It also means that a lot of these bottled waters sold aren’t pure! Many people assume bottled water is healthier as well as safer to drink than regular tap water but studies have shown that a lot of bottled water sold IS ordinary tap water, which may or may not have received any additional treatment! In fact, most municipal tap water must adhere to higher water purity standards compared to those in the bottled water industry. Over the past decade, bottled water has been recalled due to contamination by such pollutants as arsenic, bacteria, bromate, cleaning compounds and mold.
